“I believe it’s an excellent hardware platform”
It seems to be a recurring message we hear from people at Square Enix regarding their ambitions to expand the Final Fantasy series to Xbox. Although this has happened in various ways recently, we are still anticipating some of the major titles.
For instance, Rob Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This Game of the Year contender (which released in February) reportedly only has a three-month exclusivity window, which suggests that a potential Xbox release could be imminent. While it’s uncertain if this will materialize, the director of the game evidently wants to introduce it to a broader audience.
This is what Naoki Hamaguchi expressed in a recent interview with GamesRadar:
“Regarding Final Fantasy 7, there’s not much we can disclose at this time, but I certainly wish to make Final Fantasy 7 and the Remake series accessible to as many players as possible…”
As you can likely observe, Hamaguchi not only mentioned Rebirth here, but also the entire “Remake” series – which includes the Final Fantasy 7 Remake from 2020 and the anticipated third installment of the Remake series that is yet to be released.
If that wasn’t sufficient, he also shared a few thoughts about Xbox! Offering his “personal opinion” on the brand, he described it as a “fantastic hardware platform” and noted that he owns one himself. Come on SE, let’s get these games on Xbox already!
