Jim Carrey’s Transformative Approach to Gerald Robotnik in Sonic 3

Although he had previously stated that he would need a “golden script” to return to acting, Jim Carrey is taking on the dual roles of both Doctor Robotnik and his grandfather Gerald Robotnik in the upcoming Sonic 3 – even going so far as to assist in the creation of the elder Robotnik’s prosthetics.
“I mean, not only did he come back, he returned and did twice as much work,” director Jeff Fowler shares with
Fowler elaborates, “For him to create an entirely new character in the world was definitely an exciting opportunity, and he just fully committed. No detail was too small. He assisted in crafting the prosthetics and everything involved. Reflecting on things to grasp, having collaborated on three films with Jim Carrey, that’s quite a mind-boggling experience.”

“It depends, if the angels send some kind of script that’s written in gold ink that tells me it’s significant for people to watch, I might continue in that direction, but I’m presently taking a break,” Carrey noted previously regarding his future career aspirations in a 2022
