Iron Galaxy Implements Layoffs of 66 Developers in Critical Restructuring Move
The developer Iron Galaxy has eliminated 66 roles within its development and support teams.
The studio, known for creating Rumbleverse and contributing to the popular remaster of The Last of Us, indicated it has made “sacrifices” over the years to protect its teams from waves of layoffs. However, after this past winter, it has “run out of options” to endure the ongoing industry upheaval.
“This was a last resort for us,” they stated. “It’s a decision we do not take lightly to ensure our long-term sustainability.”
Iron Galaxy appears to be the latest studio reported to be reducing its workforce, following layoffs at ProbablyMonsters earlier today. Both studios are the first to implement layoffs in February; January concluded with staff reductions at BioWare, Bend Studio, and Phoenix Labs.
In its statement, Iron Galaxy reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with its development partners and aims to continue “exploring new methods to support an industry we cherish and work towards its ongoing recovery.”
“We express gratitude to [our former teammates] for their contributions,” they concluded. “We’ll do everything possible to assist them in finding the next chapter in their careers. […] We are saddened to see them leave.”
