InZOI Director Explains How It Offers a Distinct Experience from The Sims Through Unique Customization and AI Features
Here at GamesRadar+, we have been known to truly astonish the forthcoming life simulation inZOI as a “Sims rival,” although its director believes it doesn’t fit that label based on its appearance.
In our defense, we are not the only ones labeling inZOI as a competitor to The Sims, and it indeed appears to take that role. However, during an interview with PC Gamer, director Hyungjun Kim expressed his eagerness to separate inZOI from the genre giant.
“We perceive Inzoi not as a rival to The Sims, but as another alternative for enthusiasts of this genre,” Kim stated. “We hold immense respect for the legacy The Sims has established over the years, as we acknowledge that achieving such depth in a limited time frame is quite challenging. This is attributed to the nature of life simulation games, which encompass the vast and intricate concept of ‘life,’ making it tough to capture every aspect.”
Kim did not delve into the specifics that set inZOI apart from The Sims, and honestly, no reasonable person would look at it and label it a clone. However, one feature highlighted previously is its remarkably realistic visuals, partially achieved through AI. It also seems to me that at least one of the primary goals is to enhance player freedom.
“Inzoi is crafted to enable players to freely sculpt the lives they envision, utilizing a variety of creative tools,” Kim noted. “To accomplish this, we have implemented a realistic visual aesthetic powered by Unreal Engine 5, extensive customization options, and AI-enhanced creative tools. We aspire for players to explore these features to manifest their imaginations, become their own heroes and inhabit those worlds.”
inZOI is set to launch in Early Access in March.
