Indigo Pattern Convention to Continue Unhindered by Dutch Game Backyard

The prominent sports industry event in the Netherlands, Indigo, is set to return in 2025 as an independent entity.

Previously, the conference was held in partnership with incubator Dutch Game Garden (DGG), which announced last year that it would be discontinuing its operations in 2025.

While DGG is coming to an end, the Indigo organizers have confirmed that the conference will proceed this year as a two-day event in Rotterdam. The occasion will take place on May 27 and May 28 at the World Trade Center.

Indigo under new oversight

To ensure its continuation, Indigo is being transitioned into a new non-profit organization known as the Benelux Games Promotion Initiative (BGPI), which aims to foster game development businesses and individuals in the region.

The updated event will receive support from the Dutch Games Association (DGA), the Rotterdam municipality, and the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF).

“We are extremely thankful for the collaboration of the DGA, the municipality of Rotterdam, and VAF. Their assistance helps us get off the ground, but now it’s the responsibility of the gaming industry to genuinely back Indigo. The future of Indigo relies on the companies within our sector,” stated BGPI chair Geoff van den Ouden in a press announcement.

“Established studios play a crucial role in expanding the market, while emerging talent has the chance to create something from the Benelux. If everyone contributes according to their capabilities, the prospects for both the gaming sector and Indigo look very bright.”

The Indigo organizers believe that hosting an international B2B event in the Netherlands will allow Dutch developers and creatives to showcase themselves on the global stage.
