Innovative Wolfenstein creator MachineGames is making bold moves with its upcoming project, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This includes an expansive scope for the game. It looks like Indy’s adventure is poised to be the longest game the studio has ever developed.

“This is undoubtedly the largest and most extensive game that MachineGames has tackled,” said creative director Axel Torvenius during a rapid-fire interview with MinnMax. He does not specify an exact number of hours, but according to HowLongToBeat, Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus each take around 11-17 hours to complete, depending on specific gameplay content you engage with. With Indy focusing more on puzzles and exploration, it’s easy to see how this title might surpass the studio’s previous offerings.

When asked about the length of cutscenes in the game, Torvenius revealed, “there’s about three hours and 45 minutes or so of cutscenes. It’s quite a lot.” This estimate is roughly aligned with the non-interactive segments of Wolfenstein 2, as YouTube compilations of that game’s cutscenes vary between three and four hours, depending on the editor.

The entire interview provides a great insight for those eager for more information about the game. Another important detail is that, unlike the shortcomings of Star Wars Outlaws, Indy will not include any instant-fail stealth missions. We also learned for certain that this project is the Indiana Jones game that Todd Howard proposed back in 2009, and the unique storyline of the Great Circle has persisted for 15 years. (Additionally, yes, we’ve successfully corrected that “Indiana James” typo.)

Todd Howard from Bethesda informed Troy Baker that he initially did not want him to feature in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but after “a blind taste test, people selected you every time.”
