Jim Curry, a novelist and marketing director involved with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and the Gex franchise, passed away in mid-February.

In a tribute posted on his Fb page, his partner Ellen disclosed that he had been battling an undisclosed health issue for “over two years.”

“It has been a tiresome, challenging, and sorrowful journey, and we treasured many moments along the way,” she remarked. “Jim passed away surrounded by family.”

According to MobyGames, Curry commenced his career in the industry as a special consultant on the 1991 title Shock Land and contributed to the “Hometek Team” for Rolling Teach 2 during the same year. Many of his credits, including 3D Baseball and Abomination, are connected to product marketing. In addition to Soul Reaver, his writing credits encompass Fight Cars (as a copywriter), Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain (cinematic script editor), and Akuji: The Heartless.

Both Soul Reaver and its sequel have recently been remastered in a collection for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S, marking his final credited work.
