Huuuge Redefines Its Strategy by Cutting 29% of Global Workforce to Zero In on Social Casino Markets
Polish mobile developer and publisher Huuuge Games is reducing 29 percent of its worldwide workforce.
The company validated the news in a statement to investors last week, stating it aims to “simplify operations” and concentrate on its primary social casino sector.
The job cuts will affect 122 employees company-wide, with 89 of those located primarily in Poland (accounting for 25 percent of personnel in that region).
“The workforce reduction is expected to be finalized by the conclusion of February 2025 and will not adversely influence the company’s revenue,” added Huuuge.
Huuuge specializes in free-to-play games and is known for titles such as Stars Slots, Billionaire Casino, and Dominos Party. The company explained that the layoffs are intended to “enhance efficiency” while lowering expenses.
With this goal in mind, Huuuge may also be closing its ‘Huuuge Pods’ (a collection of small internal teams established in 2023) across the Netherlands and Finland and halting new game development.
Huuuge asserted that it remains profitable, boasting $125 million in cash reserves as of Q3 2024. The company will continue to seek growth opportunities through potential M&A investments that “capitalize on its expertise in monetization and games-as-a-service.”
Company CEO Wojciech Wronowski remarked that the decision to downsize the workforce is “never easy” but reflects Huuuge’s commitment to “enhancing our capacity to innovate.”
“Huuuge continues to be a profitable entity, and this represents a crucial turning point as we carve a path forward to provide even greater value to our players, partners, and shareholders,” he stated.
