One of the most intriguing features of any life simulation game for me is the generational gameplay. While the game universes of InZoi and The Sims are static, the families that inhabit them are not. They live, work, have children, and pass away, just like we do. It’s a playful and somewhat profound way to reflect on some potentially heavy topics. But first things first: you won’t experience generational gameplay unless you start creating some children. And in InZoi, having children is not quite as simple as it is in real life.
Similar to The Sims, your Zois cannot conceive in InZoi merely by engaging in sexual activity. Your Zoi can partake in all sorts of intimate encounters and try to persuade other Zois to join them, but they will unlikely become pregnant by chance. To attempt to conceive, your Zois must first get married and move in together. It’s undeniably no small feat to find a life partner, but you can assist with that through the InZoi romance guide, which details flirting, dating, marrying, and, of course, getting intimate.
The Best Way to Have a Baby in InZoi
Only female Zois can become pregnant, and currently, there are no options for adoption, surrogacy, or any alternative methods. However, it’s possible that some or all of these features may be implemented later.
Once you have successfully paired your Zoi with a partner, the Romance section of the dialogue box will include a new option to “suggest having a baby,” positioned just above the usual “let’s go to bed, if you catch my drift” choice. Selecting this might lead to a sexual encounter if the other Zoi agrees. While it’s not guaranteed that you’ll conceive by choosing this option, you won’t have any chances if you don’t make this selection.
After the deed is done, you can give your Zoi a pregnancy test to see if it was successful. If not, just try again. If it was successful, and your Zoi is now expecting, the waiting game begins. The entire duration of the pregnancy is three days, and it doesn’t seem overly complicated to manage—my Zoi dealt with some unpredictable mood changes, but nothing that significantly affected her behavior, so it was manageable. However, you can expect your pregnant Zois to experience some nausea, resulting in trips to the toilet.
