That being said, you do need to travel through the landscape if you wish to obtain it.
How to acquire the Namazu legendary mount in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The Namazu legendary mount can be found near the island of Okishima in the Omi region. Okishima is actually a popular site, even in modern times. That’s because it is one of Japan’s “Cat Islands”—typically a place where felines roam freely instead of being kept indoors. It is often said that the island’s residents are descendants of a samurai clan that was exiled centuries ago.

Above, you can see a map indicating where the Namazu legendary mount is located in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Generally, you should head to the Omi region, which lies northeast of Osaka (Izumi Settsu) and east of Kyoto (Yamashiro). If you reach the city of Azuchi, you can look for a boat that will take you to the island itself.
Note that it’s not mandatory to travel at all. You can progress through the game entirely and even use the quick travel points and kakurega during quests, including those that lead to the Yasuke-Lady Oichi romance.

If you’re on Okishima, go admire the cats—if you are as fond of them as I am. Once you’re done meowing to yourself, head to the western side of the island not far from the kakurega. While exploring the coast, you might notice a bonfire surrounded by a few bandits. Eliminate them and be prepared to dive underwater.

After diving down, turn around and look for an opening. The tunnel leads to a small cavern containing a chest that holds the Namazu legendary mount. Open it to claim your prize, then quickly swim back to the surface as your character is likely running low on breath by this point.
