Update: Xbox responds with commitment to latest console
Update[
You can view Xbox’s response on social media below, as well as that from Aaron Greenberg:
Xbox: “We’re genuinely relieved to hear that you’re safe and hope your recovery is progressing well. We understand you said that your Xbox is still functioning, but we’d love to send you a new one if you’re interested! Would it be alright for us to DM you?”
Aaron Greenberg: “Wow, what a frightening experience, but glad you and your Xbox are okay. The team informed me they are sending you a new one @Jonzey8828. Take care and cherish every day we have together.”
Original Story: Has a console ever truly saved your life? That is exactly what occurred recently to one Xbox Series S owner.
In a social media post earlier today, the individual in question revealed that on their way home from GameStop, they were struck by a truck while riding their bicycle. They weren’t wearing a helmet at the time, but the Xbox Series S in their backpack absorbed the impact, which they believe is why they did not suffer a life-threatening injury.
Here’s a glimpse of what happened to the (still functioning!) Xbox Series S, along with part of their account:
“I managed to keep most of my body above the metal bumper initially, but I wasn’t aware that the driver didn’t see me. I was pulled underneath, my backpack slammed down onto the pavement. Not only did it go over my body nearly immediately, but it started crushing the box and then the controller.
If the box hadn’t been in my backpack, I could have hit my head [since] I wasn’t wearing a helmet at that time. That box also protected my back from getting scraped too.”
They continued to explain that the only injury sustained was a single fractured bone in their left foot, and as mentioned, the damaged Xbox Series S still powers on. However, they’re hoping to get it “repaired” sometime in the future depending on the cost.
Clearly, the important takeaway from this incident is to always wear a helmet while cycling, and we’re relieved that the individual involved is okay.
