An uncommon update for the eagerly awaited sequel
It became widely discussed again at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2022 that Hollow Knight: Silksong was initially announced as a day one Xbox Game Pass release, and to be honest, it seems we have barely heard any updates regarding the title since then!
The past year has been relatively quiet aside from the Xbox Store page going live in April, and the year prior that was when the game was officially postponed from its anticipated release in early 2023 to an undetermined time in the future.
It is quite surprising to note that there is still uncertainty surrounding the game at this moment, which led to an unexpected comment from Team Cherry’s Matthew Griffin a few days ago, confirming that development is still ongoing for the title in 2025:
Regrettably, that is all we have for the time being, and clearly something went slightly off behind the scenes to cause such a lengthy multi-year delay. We are still holding out hope that it will be an exceptional sequel once it finally launches, despite the undeniable truth!
And of course, the Xbox Game Pass aspect remains incredibly exciting for Xbox enthusiasts, with nothing appearing to have changed in that area – the Xbox Store continues to advertise it as a day one Xbox Game Pass release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. This is going to be a remarkable addition when it eventually arrives!
Who knows how long we will be waiting, but let’s hope Hollow Knight makes its debut in 2025…
