Primarily focused on the Bungie era
This Christmas Day was far from peaceful for Halo this year, as despite the fact that Halo Studios hasn’t announced anything new, a random user on 4chan chose to expose 90GB of material related to the franchise.
According to a report from The Game Post, the leak was associated with the “Halo Digsite Archive” – a resource that mod developers have previously utilized to assist 343 Industries in restoring outdated content from earlier Halo games.
The individual known as “John” (mentioned in the tweet above) worked on the Halo Digsite initiative, and stated that no one is aware of who caused the leak yet, noting that it includes some .dll files he didn’t have access to.
This project was somewhat controversial among others involved as well, since there never appeared to be any financial motivation – something John describes as “it is what it is,” emphasizing he was involved purely for the “love of the game”.
In short, a significant leak concerning classic Halo titles has surfaced online, and we might start seeing a variety of leaked content in the upcoming days and weeks. However, it does not appear that anything related to the future of the franchise is included – it’s principally focused on content from Halo 1 up to Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
