Glow Up Games Bids Farewell: A Five-Year Journey Comes to an End
Glow Up Games, the studio responsible for Enormously very a lot surprised: The Attain Up Game, is shutting down.
Co-founder Mitu Khandaker shared via LinkedIn that the studio was “unable to keep overcoming the obstacles we battled so fiercely to address for all these years.” Established in 2019, the studio’s only credit is the game based on the classic HBO series.
“Our goal was to create games & technology that center and celebrate Black and brown joy, and we took pride in what we accomplished,” she continued. A similar announcement was posted on Glow Up’s website, which further emphasized “the influence we were able to make.”
“We rejoiced over so many milestones,” Khandaker added, “including being the first all-woman of color founded studio in the mobile sector to secure over $1 million in equity funding. […] We’re thankful for those who are carrying on that vital & essential work.”
This signifies perhaps the most recent studio closure as 2024 approaches. Last week, Ubisoft discontinued its studios in San Francisco and Osaka in advance of xDefiant shutting down in June 2025. Likewise, indie developer Sweet Bandits behind Deceive Inc. also closed its doors after its team reached a “breaking point.”
Studios have also undergone several layoffs this week: People Can Fly, Deck Nine, and outlets like IGN and GamesIndustry have cut positions or encouraged employees to take buyouts.
