Golden Boy actor Patrick Schwarzenegger has revealed he auditioned for both Homelander and Superman, although he did not secure either role.

Schwarzenegger portrays Golden Boy in The Boys spin-off Gen V, and he can currently be seen in The White Lotus season 3.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Schwarzenegger shared that his superhero auditions encompassed his role in Gen V, Homelander, and Superman himself.

“I don’t remember receiving any feedback; it felt like it was just ‘No, not for you,'” he reflected on his experience auditioning for Superman after submitting his self-tape.

Conversely, Superman will be portrayed by David Corenswet, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The rest of the cast includes Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.

“We’ve conducted screenings, we’ve actually had real screenings,” Gunn has stated about Superman. “We’re definitely learning things all the time, definitely editing and making slight adjustments. You know, we might film a couple of small, minor things.”

As for The Boys, Homelander is famously portrayed by Antony Starr, and the Amazon Prime Video superhero series will conclude with the forthcoming The Boys season 5, which is anticipated in 2026. Meanwhile, Gen V is set to return for Gen V season 2, although a release date has yet to be confirmed.
