Martin’s epic saga will hit the shelves on November 4, nearly exactly five years after the release of the previous installment, A Storm of Swords: The Illustrated Edition. The Illustrated Edition series debuted in 2016 with A Game of Thrones. After a three-year delay, Random House released A Clash of Kings: Illustrated Edition in 2019. A Storm of Swords followed a year later, but then fans were left in suspense. For Game of Thrones followers, the wait for this exclusive hardcover edition of A Feast for Crows certainly pales in comparison to The Winds of Winter. Almost 14 years have passed since the release of A Dance with Dragons, so a five-year wait seems trivial.

That said, for the Illustrated Edition series to be completed, the entire series must exist. A Dance with Dragons: The Illustrated Edition seems like a certainty, but what about The Winds of Winter and the anticipated seventh and final novel, A Dream of Spring? At this moment, no one really knows.
