A modern landscape of opportunities

Following a surprise reveal event in September, Inti Creates has now confirmed that Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark will be hacking and slashing its way to the Switch on 27th March 2025.
This title serves as a sequel to last year’s Gal Guardians: Demon Purge, with an expanded scope that enhances the metroidvania aspects. This time, players will switch between Kirika and Masha (or play as both in two-player co-op), two hunters on a quest to bring back their master, the Demon Lord Maxim.
Each character features a distinct gameplay style: one attacks up close with a whip, while the other fires from a distance using a machine gun — not your typical demon-slaying arsenal, but it sure looks exciting!
We encountered some strong Aria of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia vibes when we first glimpsed this title a few months ago, and today’s new trailer has only intensified that feeling. There’s just something special about navigating a beautifully crafted pixel-art castle, don’t you think?
Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark will launch on the Switch eShop in March for $29.99 / €28.49.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with its predecessor, Demon Purge, last year, giving it a 7/10 in our review and mentioning that “it strikes all the right chords, albeit sometimes in a slightly too sparse manner to be deemed overwhelmingly engaging.”
Will you be picking this one up next year? Share your thoughts in the comments.
