“One of the greatest games ever created”

In February, we emphasized how a former PlayStation executive dubbed Blue Prince a candidate for Game of the Year, and at that point, there was considerable surprise that a seemingly random indie title was receiving such high praise.

Well… it is definitely a Game of the Year contender. The reviews for Blue Prince were released today, and as of this writing, it boasts a 92 average score on Metacritic (for PC). For context, Split Fiction holds a score of 93, making it the top Xbox game of 2025.

We will include some of these reviews below for you to check out, and you can also view the trailer above. Blue Prince launches on Xbox Game Pass this Thursday, April 10th.

Here is what the reviews have to say about Blue Prince so far:

Digital Spy (5/5)

Blue Prince is an extraordinary game filled with enigmas, secrets, and mind-blowing moments along with a highly addictive gameplay loop. To call this one of the best puzzle games of all time feels like an understatement. Rather, it is arguably the most memorable experience I’ve ever had playing a game, and I can’t stop thinking about it.

Noisy Pixel (10/10)

Blue Prince is an exciting puzzle adventure that intertwines mystery, design, and proactive exploration, creating a deeply satisfying experience. Featuring a daily-reset mansion mechanic and enigmatic room layouts, it challenges players to think creatively and plan meticulously. Although its difficulty curve and unpredictable elements may test your patience, the reward is a thrilling journey full of surprises, discovery, and player-driven problem-solving.

I craved more odd possibilities from the surroundings I grew up in. Blue Prince satisfies that longing. What an incredible game this is.

PC Gamer (92/100)

Grab a pen and paper. Dim the lights. Sit back, unwind, and take your time. Map out your rooms, count your steps, and let the mysteries of the mansion slowly reveal themselves to showcase one of the best puzzle games in years.

GameSpot (9/10)

Blue Prince is one of the most unforgettable gaming experiences I have ever encountered. It is instantly accessible yet incredibly deep, both challenging and euphoric. Like each of my many experiences within the Mount Holly manor itself, it is truly one of a kind.

GamesRadar (4/5)

Blue Prince feels remarkably unique in how it takes a straightforward premise and fills it with numerous threads of mystery to unravel. This exploration roguelike is unlike anything else I’ve played, and it became an obsession that I simply couldn’t shake through multiple runs where I.
