Experience the Thrill of Descenders Next: Check Sessions Now Live on Steam!
Features “large experience with numerous hours of gameplay”.
Descenders Next, the thrilling sports-focused sequel to the 2018 celebrated downhill biking game Descenders, has launched its online Test Sessions via Steam, allowing players to experience a “large” creation before its official release.
Developer RageSquid revealed Descenders Next back in August, clarifying that their aim was to deliver the “same feel, the same sense of speed” as the original, but across as many extreme sports as possible over the coming years.
Initially, however, Descenders Next is concentrating on two specific boarding sports: snowboarding and mountainboarding. There are discussions of race challenges, trick-focused tasks, scavenger hunts, equipment enhancements, and more as players rush down procedurally generated off-piste mountains and through “multiple vast biomes”.
Descenders Next is slated for release sometime in 2025, but players can dive in right now thanks to its previously hinted Test Sessions. Details remain fairly vague – there is no information on how the Test Sessions will be organized or their duration – but a press release accompanying their launch does indicate that players will have access to a “large experience with numerous hours of gameplay, featuring both snowboarding and mountainboarding, with full online multiplayer.”
Test Sessions (a controller is recommended) are currently limited to Steam, and players will first need to follow the instructions over on R.
