Path of Exile 2 has a quirk that can automatically group you with random players. Oh, wait, that’s actually a bug, but the developer Grinding Gear Games suggests you might want to just “consider it a feature” until it gets fixed.
Grinding Gear’s much-anticipated action-RPG sequel finally entered Early Access today, and just as the studio anticipated, it’s experiencing some serious server issues preventing many players from even logging in.
Less concerning is the bug that apparently puts people who are already in parties with “random players.” To be honest, I’m not sure this relatively minor bug would even qualify for a major news article if it weren’t for Grinding Gear’s jest suggesting it might not be such a bad thing to gain some new social interaction, right, solo players?
“We’re aware of a problem with players in parties sometimes being placed into parties with other random players,” reads a tweet from the official Path of Exile Twitter account. “Until we resolve this, think of it as a feature to enhance your social experience!”
We’re aware of an issue with players in parties sometimes being placed into parties with different random players. Until we fix this, consider it a feature to improve your social skills!December 6, 2024
At this point, Grinding Gear is clearly having a little fun with us. Or perhaps it’s simply acknowledging the bug while promising a fix in a lighthearted manner, which is quite commendable considering the multitude of more significant issues it is facing.
The latest update from Grinding Gear indicates that the login issue should be resolved shortly for Steam users specifically. There is still no update on when other platforms will see a resolution, but I’ve reached out to the studio for more information and will update this text if I receive a response.
