‘Twenty Sixth Anniversary Remaster’ does not carry the same charm
Nightdive Studios has previously announced the well-structured revival of the classic action RPG System Shock 2 for Switch, now sporting a fresh title: introducing System Shock 2: Twenty Fifth Anniversary Remaster.
This remaster, once referred to as System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, will offer a revamped version of Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios’ 1999 survival horror sequel. It was initially revealed back in 2019 following Nightdive’s re-releases in the mid-2010s. Admittedly, it seems peculiar to rebrand it as ‘Twenty Fifth Anniversary Remaster’ after missing the actual anniversary last year… but hey, great game=great game, right?
No release date has been specified, although the PR indicates that it “will soon be available” on PC and consoles, with a release date announcement set for GDC 2025 during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase live stream.

If you happen to be unfamiliar with the game, it featured BioShock creator Ken Levine in development roles and is celebrated as one of the PC masterpieces of the late ’90s, blending survival horror with the action RPG genre and going on to
