Wow. It’s amazing how people exclaim ‘I can’t believe it’s been a year since…’ Well, this year truly feels like a full year has passed.

2024 has presented another tumultuous twelve months for the gaming sector, with new obstacles and surprising shifts for many. However, as I sit here reflecting on the responses to our Reader’s Top 50 vote, I’m reminded of how much we still have to appreciate.

The list that you voted for is overflowing with creative excellence, and some of the reasons you’ve shared for your choices are genuinely heartwarming. You recount stories that have connected us with others, stirred nostalgia for classic games, and brought back memories of playing alongside loved ones or pets no longer with us. Additionally, you’ve spoken about games that have created new memories—sharing our beloved pastime with our own next generations.

Eurogamer will be taking a break for Christmas after today, but we will have daily treats to share with you until we’re back on January 2nd. In addition to your top 50, we will reveal our staff selections and our Game of the Year.
