“Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Soars to the Pinnacle of Japan’s November Gaming Charts”
PlayStation 5 sees its monthly revenue more than triple after the launch of the PS5 Pro
Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake debuted at No.1 on Japan’s November charts, having sold 712,188 copies on Switch within a fortnight.
The game also ranked second on PlayStation 5 with 200,944 units sold. In total, the title has reached 913,000 copies sold since its release on November 14, 2024.
In comparison to other Dragon Quest remakes, it surpassed Dragon Quest 7: Journey of the Cursed King, which was released in 2015 on 3DS and sold 733,000 copies within the same period.
In other developments, Super Mario Party Jamboree slipped down two spots to No.3, selling an additional 168,000 units. Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time made its debut at No.4, with 88,539 units sold.
Looking at publishers, Square Enix captured 54.1% of the market share with ¥6.5 billion ($43.2 million) – an impressive 30.9% lead over Nintendo following the triumph of Dragon Quest 3.
Regarding the hardware rankings, the PS5’s sales tripled compared to October after the release of the PS5 Pro on November 7, which sold 102,092 units. Combined, the three models of the console sold 151,000 units.
Meanwhile, the Switch maintained its leading position with total sales of 255,401 units across its three devices. It also emerged as the highest-selling platform, having sold 1.5 million boxed games during the period.
