The psychological RPG Disco Elysium is set to arrive on mobile devices thanks to the renowned studio ZA/UM with a “reimagined” version.

The purpose of this adaptation is to make the game readily available for mobile platforms and playable in brief sessions.

“We aim to engage TikTok users with quick snippets of captivating storyline, art, and sound, ultimately crafting a brand new, profoundly immersive form of entertainment,” stated studio head Denis Havel, a former member of the Disco Elysium development team.

As you can see from the trailer above, the original isometric gameplay has been adapted to suit a vertical mobile screen, allowing players to swipe through dialogue options. It feels more like a visual novel.

“With this adaptation, Disco Elysium becomes more accessible than ever. This reimagining is designed to suit how people engage with mobile, making it easy to enjoy in short bursts. It’s what audiobooks aspire to be,” noted narrative lead Chris Priestman.

Havel added: “Mobile gamers deserve deep, story-rich experiences, such as Disco Elysium. With utmost respect for the original’s artistry and significance, we continue as both guardians and creators, bringing this masterpiece to new and returning players alike. We want you to rediscover your love for Disco Elysium on your phone—all over again.”

The game is set to launch in summer 2025 on Google Android devices, so it won’t be long until we see how this adaptation holds up to the original. Pre-registration is now open.

Furthermore, the first two chapters will likely be available for free, with the rest of the game unlockable through a one-time purchase for an ad-free experience.

Earlier this week, ZA/UM revealed its follow-up to Disco Elysium – a new RPG called C4 that combines elements of espionage thriller and psychedelic sci-fi.

However, after the tumultuous events surrounding the release of Disco Elysium and a number of now-resolved legal disputes, many of the original developers have scattered.

There are now several different projects vying to become the primary successor to the beloved RPG.

This includes the newly founded studio Longude, which recently provided an update on its new game, Hopetown, featuring key alumni from Disco Elysium.

Other projects include XXX Nights
