Titan is preparing to unveil a new series of Diablo comic books, seven years after the publisher first revealed its plans to launch titles set in the universe of Blizzard’s dungeon crawler. The new series, titled Diablo: Dawn of Hatred, will be penned by Cullen Bunn and brought to life by artist Daniele Serra, alongside colorist Jovanna Plata. The storyline is set following the events of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, which is the game’s latest expansion.

While specific details regarding the new comic are currently limited, Titan has shared that it “delves into the depths and despair of Sanctuary as it attempts to recover from the devastating events of Diablo 4 and its first expansion, Vessel of Hatred.”

Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to get their first glimpse of the comic on Free Comic Book Day, May 3, with the release of a special primer issue. Although cover art has not been revealed yet, Titan has released a series of character design sheets created by Daniele Serra.

This isn’t the first Diablo comic series. DC published a five-issue limited run based on the game back in 2011, which was later compiled as Diablo: Sword of Justice. Over ten years later, Blizzard released Diablo: Legends of the Barbarian – Bul-Kathos, a standalone graphic novel that followed the life of the character Bul-Kathos. This year, it was succeeded by Diablo: Legends of the Necromancer – Rathma.

Titan initially intended to release a four-issue limited series by the renowned Marv Wolfman and artist Piotr Kowalski in 2018, but it was abruptly canceled just before its release with no official reason stated. Diablo: Dawn of Hatred is unrelated to that project and offers a completely new narrative developed by a different creative team.

Diablo: Dawn of Hatred Free Comic Book Edition is set to be published by Titan Comics on May 3, 2025.
