When Destiny 2: Heresy launches early next month, players will find themselves back on the Dreadnaught, the Hive vessel that has remained abandoned since The Taken King expansion. While players have traversed this ship in the past, it has undergone several modifications since its last appearance.

“What’s crucial about the Dreadnaught’s return for Heresy is that it will be evolving, and we will engage with it in ways we have not yet encountered,” stated Nikko Stevens—Destiny 2’s Narrative Architect—in a feature on PlayStation’s official site. “The Dreadnaught has awoken for the first time in nearly a decade, prompting the Vanguard and Guardians across the system to pay attention. We finally have the opportunity to see what has happened to the Dreadnaught after years since Oryx fell, and its hallways were abandoned, lacking a Navigator.”

There are numerous Taken foes eagerly waiting for players aboard the Dreadnaught, and the goal of the mission is to push back the corruption that has largely engulfed the ship. Consequently, this mission will introduce a new quest known as The Nether. In this quest, players will be tasked with disabling the ship’s internal weapons and halting the spread of the Taken corruption. Both players and their adversaries may experience either beneficial or detrimental effects from boons that could disrupt the balance of power between them.

Destiny 2: Heresy will debut on February 4, coinciding with a collaboration with Star Wars that introduces equipment, armor modifications, accessories, emotes, and finishers influenced by some of the Empire’s fiercest fighters, including the Death Troopers and Imperial Guards.
