Swedish development team 10 Chambers unveiled Den of Wolves during last year’s Game Awards, making it fitting that this year’s Game Awards featured the premiere of the main gameplay trailer. As highlighted in the trailer below, Den of Wolves is being crafted by Payday co-creator Ulf Andersson, and it already appears to be an exhilarating adventure.
This game is a cooperative first-person shooter that also serves as a heist experience. Together with your teammates, Den of Wolves allows players to conduct stealth missions and other “unapproved tasks” for their clients while traversing the futuristic Halfway City. However, sometimes plans are destined to derail, and you may find yourself needing to shoot your way out of trouble.
Even though Den of Wolves doesn’t fit the definition of an open-world game, the story will be deeply influenced by the lore and background of Halfway City. According to Simon Viklund of 10 Chambers, it is designed to be “a realistic city of the near future where late-stage capitalism has run amok, with corporations dictating the rules.” Players start as blank slates before plunging into the criminal underground, forming alliances, and taking on jobs in the black market.
The teaser concluded without revealing when early access will be available, but Den of Wolves is already available to wishlist on Steam. Meanwhile, we have compiled all the winners from The Game Awards 2024.
