Ticket-y boo

Nintendo has disclosed the newest update for Tetris 99 (ver. 2.5.0), presenting a novel method for acquiring prior event themes… not that you’d realize that if you’ve perused the English patch notes.
As highlighted by @OatmealDome on BlueSky, the patch notes seem to have been slightly unclear in the translation from the original Japanese to English. The text should indicate that you can now acquire previous event themes for 30 in-game tickets, whereas the patch notes on the American Nintendo Support site instead imply that you can somehow sell back past themes and receive tickets in exchange:
You can now trade some of your previously acquired event themes (Special Themes) for game tickets utilizing the Customize menu. Each event theme is valued at 30 tickets.
OatmealDome clarifies that the erroneous translation is not accurate. Unsurprisingly, the update doesn’t introduce any peculiar buy-back initiative; rather, it provides a selection of obtainable prior themes that you may have overlooked. The themes available for 30 in-game tickets are as follows:
- Super Mario All-Stars
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
- Miitopia
- Mario Golf: Super Rush
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Metroid Dread
- WarioWare: Move It!
In conjunction with this new feature, the ver. 2.5.0 update also brings some general modifications “to enhance the gameplay experience.” We presume that the English patch notes will be revised soon to correct the mistranslation, but hey, it was enjoyable while it lasted.
Have you acquired any of these earlier Tetris 99 themes yet? Share your thoughts in the comments.
