Since it was announced last month that Digital Eclipse’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will land in 2025, we’ve been hungry for additional details. While nothing official has arrived, a narrower launch date appears to have slipped out through the Xbox App—hat tip to IGN.

The r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit noticed that, for a brief window over the weekend, the Xbox App pointed to 29th/30th September (thank time-zone sorcery for the one-day gap) rather than the fallback placeholder. The listing has since reverted to the usual 31st December 2025 stand-in, but it wasn’t quick enough to escape plenty of watchful eyes.

Rumour mills spun into action, suggesting Digital Eclipse could lock in the official date at either EVO 2025 next weekend or during that buzzed-about Nintendo Direct. We’re taking the whispers with a grain of salt, yet the flashed-and-yanked date raises our eyebrows a bit higher than usual.

If you overlooked the State of Play spotlight last month, this compilation resurrects Digital Eclipse’s signature “interactive documentary” style: interviews, cut commentary, and bonus archive material wrapped around “more than 20 variants” of legendary Mortal Kombat releases. The confirmed roll call so far covers Mortal Kombat II, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat Advance, and numerous others.
