Blimey, it genuinely feels like the day before today after we all gathered to discuss our weekend intentions, doesn’t it? Don’t fret about us, that April Direct will arrive before you know it.

Moving on, let’s take a look at what’s transpired in the Nintendo realm this week. To start, the company released its latest financial report which revealed that the Switch has exceeded 150 million units sold. Despite this milestone, figures are declining across the industry, yet with the Switch 2 on the horizon, investors are (for a change) not panicking.

In other news, as anticipated, Nintendo has shut down the fan-made Zelda film ‘Lost in Hyrule’ – who didn’t see that one coming? PlatinumGames sparked some curiosity by removing several older titles from its official website portfolio, while we finally received official timings for the forthcoming Switch 2 Direct in April.

This week, we reviewed:

I’m currently dabbling with Metroid. I’m alternating between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime Remastered. The more I delve into the classic, the more I appreciate its recognition as one of the most exceptional SNES titles, which is entirely deserved. It’s magnificent.

On the PS5 front, I’ve returned to playing Hitman: World of Assassination. Now that is a game where I can easily lose myself for hours. Replaying missions repeatedly to either improve my score or just to play around brings a level of enjoyment that few other games can rival.

Also, I’m working my way through Halo 3 on Legendary difficulty.

Guess who’s traveling to Japan on Monday? That’s right, it’s me! This means my weekend is largely consumed by packing and frantically preparing, but also downloading games for my Switch and Steam Deck. I’m not quite sure which ones, though.

I should probably tackle my backlog, but I have copies of Citizen Sleeper 1 and 2, so I figure that’s what I’ll do!

Trying to make the most of the lull before the Switch 2, I’ve gone into ‘total-unfinished-games overdrive’ mode.

This weekend, it’s time to conclude the story and wrap up my 5-year romance with Skyrim. The catch is, my in-game dog Barbas seems to be breaking the game. He’s preoccupying this dragon that I need to…(OK, no spoilers).

I feel the conclusion is near once I can sort this canine out.

It’s time for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom endgame. I will miss this installment; the intricate dungeon design and using a horde of moblins to unleash chaos on your enemies never gets old. I think I’m also close to finishing The Lord of the Rings: Battle in the North, which I’m enjoying quite a lot. It’s back to Russia in Smuggler’s Run: Warzones, but now everything is cloaked in a snowy white cover. It’s not all just laid-back gaming, as I recently surpassed level sixty in Fitness Boxing 3.

Game of the week is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The first significant update of the year was released, adding several new features while tweaking many existing ones. But the key highlight is now available: Emotes! There are few thrills quite like reaching out to shake hands with your closest battle brother just as the Hive Tyrant is about to stomp both of you.

Let’s hope this game makes it to Switch 2!

I’ve been diving back into Tears of the Kingdom over the past week or so – there’s still so much I haven’t completed in that game. Beyond that, I plan to finish the beautiful Arco and I want to spend some time with Metal Gear Solid before our next Catch-Up Crew.

The latest wave of Metroidvanias has me eyeing my backlog as well. Is this finally the moment to start Hollow Knight? Possibly, though I have about 30 other titles to choose from.

Take care, everyone.

That’s what we have planned for the weekend, but how about you? Let us know in the poll which games you intend to play over the next few days.
