Jenna Ortega has clarified the situation after speculation arose that she had secured a prominent role in the MCU. The Wednesday star initially appeared in the superhero franchise in Iron Man 3 with a minor part and seemingly has no intention of returning.

“I did it once,” she recalled in an interview with Entertainment Tonight when queried about her connection to the Marvel universe. “But it was one of the first jobs I ever had, and they removed all my lines,” she continued.

Ortega was cast in the 2013 film, which was the third and final installment of the Iron Man series, portraying the daughter of the Vice President of the United States, a role played by Miguel Ferrer. As she has now shared, her character initially had some dialogue, but those lines were cut during editing. “They even took my name away,” she stated.

During the conversation, her Death of a Unicorn co-star and former MCU member Paul Rudd mentioned that “Marvel is quite adept at laying those breadcrumbs”, teasing that “it might well be” possible for Ortega to return. “They’re going to create something for you, because they should be so lucky,” Rudd expressed.

However, the actress seemed far from enthusiastic about the prospect. “I’m really, I’m just, I acknowledge that, and I move on,” she replied.

Even though the MCU has shown interest, Ortega is currently quite occupied. Her new film, Death of a Unicorn, is set to hit theaters later this month, and she will soon reprise her role as Wednesday Addams for Netflix’s Wednesday season 2.

Ortega will also star alongside The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan in the thriller, Bustle Up Tomorrow, as well as in Cathy Yan’s upcoming film, The Gallerist, featuring Natalie Portman. Additionally, she has just landed a leading role in the forthcoming reboot of the classic 1992 erotic thriller, Single White Female.
