The initial major REPO is taking a bit more time than initially anticipated partly due to the developers being “taken aback” by the cooperative horror sensation’s overwhelming popularity.

REPO debuted solely on Steam Early Access in February and swiftly ascended to fame reminiscent of Phasmophobia and Lethal Company. At the time of this writing, it boasts an impressive 112,000 reviews with 96% being favorable. In a recent Q&A, semiwork’s Pontus Sundström humorously remarked, “we dozed once and have been awake ever since.”

Concerning REPO’s first update, Sundström reiterated in an earlier video that it will “require a bit more time” than the developers initially estimated.

“We want to guarantee that we are putting in our utmost effort to deliver this update to you all,” Sundström explained. “The first update will take a little extra time since the immense success of REPO took us by surprise, so there’s a lot of administrative tasks and mundane work we must complete behind the scenes, alongside refining the game and ensuring everything is stable and prepared for launch.”

Another factor contributing to the minor delay, as outlined in a previous video from a couple of weeks ago, is that the developers are still mastering the process. REPO is semiwork’s second title following Voidigo, its first 3D game, and its inaugural project created in Unity.

“While we are crafting the first update for REPO, it will understandably take a bit longer initially as we are still learning things along the way, and we wish to ensure we learn correctly,” stated Sundström.

This indicates there should be reduced intervals between future updates “as we gain more insight into things and how to execute them,” according to Sundström.
