Who requires an OLED television when you possess a widescreen CRT television?
Honestly, CRT scanlines are stunning and we have a massive affection for these hefty devices. Perched on the floor, gazing up at the display as we dashed around in Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time; sheer joy.
The Switch 2, boasting its 120fps features and VRR in handheld mode, is significantly more robust than the N64 (obviously!). So why on earth would we desire to play Mario Kart World or Breath of the Wild on a 27-inch CRT television?
Well, our wonderful video producer Zion is here to demonstrate what the experience of playing a Switch 2 on a CRT television entails, and honestly? It’s enchanting. From contemporary titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Street Fighter 6 to nostalgic indie remembrances like Deltarune and Celeste, Zion’s exploring the delightful nostalgia of gaming on an old television.
Is it the ultimate method to experience the Switch 2? Absolutely not. Is it intriguing? Definitely. It requires a reasonable amount of configuration, and it will differ based on the type of television you have, but if you’re curious, check out Zion’s video above and share your thoughts in the comments about whether you’d like to try this out.
