The Shire arrives on Switch this July

If you somehow overlooked it, another Lord of the Rings game is on the way, but this one is unlike any previous title in the franchise. This new installment, titled Tales of the Shire, has been characterized as a “cozy” Tolkien-inspired lifestyle game and will be available on the Switch this July.
In anticipation of the upcoming release, the New Zealand studio Wētā Workshop is currently showcasing various features of the game through exclusive “behind-the-scenes” videos. The latest installment highlights the team behind this new project, featuring shorts that explain how different elements of the game were developed.
We had the opportunity to try Tales of the Shire last year, and here’s a glimpse of our initial impressions:
“Tales of the Shire embraces its gastronomic theme enthusiastically, and we came away pleasantly surprised by something that didn’t initially seem appealing. Players can personalize their Hobbit dwelling, engage in fishing, and strengthen connections with other Hobbits. It may not feel entirely original, as it combines various features from other life-simulation games, but Tales of the Shire is at least striving to establish its own niche by emphasizing the culinary aspect.”
