Samsung’s 1TB Pro Plus microSD Card is currently available at an unprecedented all-time low price on Amazon as part of the retailer’s Massive Spring Sale. Originally priced at $120, the 1TB Pro Plus is now just $80. If you especially enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog, you can grab the exact 1TB card featuring Sonic’s face for $90 (originally $126). Quick and reliable—this refers to the microSD card, not Sonic—the Pro Plus is certainly one of the simplest options for boosting storage capacity on your Steam Deck or portable PC. However, since Samsung only entered the 1TB microSD market last summer, we haven’t witnessed many significant deals on these cards as we have with SanDisk’s standard offerings.
Alternatively, you may consider purchasing Samsung’s 1TB Evo Select microSD for $70. This price matches the card’s all-time low, whereas the previous lowest price for the Pro Plus was $90. The Evo Select is rated up to 20MB/s slower than the Pro Plus, but it remains an excellent choice for Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, as well as handhelds running Windows or Android.

All of these 1TB Samsung cards carry U3 ratings (Ultra-High Speed Class 3). These are high-performance cards with speeds fast enough for writing and reading 4K video. Either of these cards will perform excellently with your Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch as well. The Pro Plus provides a notable increase in read speed, reaching 180MB/s compared to the Evo Select’s 160MB/s—however, this difference may not be noticeable when it comes to gaming performance on the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck.
With Amazon’s latest deals, the Samsung cards are priced five dollars less than each model’s SanDisk alternative. The SanDisk Ultra 1TB—the most popular microSD card—is discounted to $75 and offers read and transfer speeds of up to 150MB/s—10MB/s slower than the Evo Select. On the other hand, the SanDisk Extreme 1TB is 10MB/s faster than the Pro Plus, making it a competitive option for consumers.

When it pertains to storage solutions, a significant reason why it is often advisable to choose well-known brands such as SanDisk and Samsung is their durability over extended periods. No one wants to lose their important data. While it may not be a major concern if you are primarily saving video games to your microSD, it becomes a much bigger issue if the corrupted files include save data you’ve invested countless hours building. Regularly backing up your saves is always a smart choice.
However, while we generally recommend Samsung or SanDisk, there are trustworthy microSD cards available from budget-friendly manufacturers as well. During Amazon’s Spring Sale, one of the top options comes from Lexar. The 1TB Lexar Play is available for just $64 and offers up to 160MB/s read speeds. Lexar states that the enhanced version of the Lexar Play, specifically tailored for gaming, achieves maximum read speeds of 205MB/s. The Lexar Play 1TB (205MB/s) variant is priced at $88.
