Since Bram Stoker revealed the world to Dracula, vampire literature has been a hot commodity over the years. In Japan, one of the most significant contributions to this genre is the long-running Vampire Hunter D book series by author Hideyuki Kikuchi. If you’ve been eager to sink your teeth into these novels, you can acquire the entire series at an incredible discount courtesy of Fanatical’s current Vampire Hunter D: The Complete Saga Book Bundle. The full 30-book bundle comes at just $13, marking a remarkable 93% off the regular price of $209.70.

While the $13 option provides the best value, the bundle is also available in more affordable tiers that feature a smaller selection of ebooks, ideal for those who prefer just sampling the expansive series. Notably, there is a two-book package that includes Vampire Hunter D Volume 1 and Volume 2 for only $1. Additionally, an eight-book version is offered that brings in six more volumes for just $8. You can view the complete range of books included in each tier over at Fanatical.

Each book in the bundle is provided in DRM-free EPUB format, allowing you to read it on tablets, smartphones, or even your computer.

Vampire Hunter D has consistently been a top seller since its initial release in 1983. The series fuses science fiction and supernatural elements to create an intriguing world set many years after a nuclear catastrophe where civilization has been rebuilt by vampires, who govern over the last remaining human survivors until they revolt against their vampiric rulers, throwing the world into chaos once more.

At the center of this turmoil is D, a “Dhampir” born from a vampire father and a human mother. Endowed with all the abilities of a vampire and almost none of their vulnerabilities, he makes a living as a vampire hunter as he journeys from town to town. Kikuchi’s rich world-building is enhanced by illustrator Yoshitaka Amano—well-known for his work on Final Fantasy—who has provided cover art and various illustrations for the Vampire Hunter D series since its inception.

While this Fanatical offer is the best and most sensible way to dive into the Vampire Hunter D series, physical versions of the books are also available at Crunchyroll. The best option comprises omnibus volumes, each containing three novels and covering up to Volume 21 of the series. Omnibus editions of the last nine volumes may also become available in the future. However, if you wish to finish the series, you can also obtain physical copies of volumes 22 through 30 separately, too.

Vampire Hunter D has also been turned into a manga series. Unfortunately, most volumes are out of stock online, so you may not be able to purchase the entire series, but you can still pick up a few volumes on Amazon.

Vampire Hunter D New Omnibus Editions

Several volumes of the series have been transformed into animated films throughout the years, beginning with Vampire Hunter D in 1985. The original film debuted in 1985 and still retains its quality with its dark atmosphere, captivating animation, and exciting action sequences. Interestingly, this edition is priced at $100 on Amazon, likely due to limited print runs of this steelbook version. Thankfully, the sequel, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, is more reasonably priced at $25.60. Produced by Madhouse, Bloodlust received praise for its impressive production values and is based entirely on the third novel, Demon Deathchase.
