The Epic Games Store (EGS) witnessed significant growth in 2024, with 295 million PC gamers and widespread demand across various crucial regions.

The author’s Year In Review indicates that its PC user base increased by 25 million players from the previous year. Multi-platform accounts—which include those created on partner platforms and the EGS’ mobile application for Android and iOS in Europe—reached 898 million, an increase of 94 million compared to 2023.

In terms of engagement, daily and monthly active users rose by 6 percent, with averages of 31.5 million and 67.2 million, respectively. Daily users peaked at 37.2 million, reflecting a 3 percent increase year-over-year, while monthly users totaled 74 million, representing a 1 percent decrease year-over-year.

Regarding revenue, total expenditure on PC video games surged by 15 percent year-over-year to $1.1 billion. However, third-party purchases continued to decline: PC gamers spent $255 million in 2024, marking an 18 percent decrease compared to the previous year. In 2023, the figure of $310 million was already a 13 percent reduction from 2022.

Beyond its revenue and player statistics, Epic promoted its Launch Everywhere program, which lowers royalty fees from 5 percent to 2.5 percent for games that launch on EGS alongside other storefronts.

It also noted that “more developers than ever” took advantage of revenue initiatives this year. Now on Epic, which allows developers to keep 100% of their revenues for bringing their back catalog to the EGS, has been extended to January 1, 2026 and now includes mobile games.

Epic’s Year In Review also showcased its most-played PC games throughout the year. Many of the titles mentioned were released several years ago and have appeared in previous annual summaries.

The Mythic (first tier) category includes Genshin Impact, Grand Theft Auto V, and Epic’s own Fortnite and Rocket League. Legendary (second tier) features Alan Wake II, EA Sports FC 24, and Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

Finally, Epic (third tier) includes Black Myth: Wukong, EA Sports FC 25, and Cyberpunk 2077.
