Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been revealed almost a month prior to its scheduled release date on March 20, as confirmed by Ubisoft.
Identified by those of us at Resetera, and independently corroborated by GamesRadar+, a representative from Ubisoft’s community team shared the following statement in the official Assassin’s Creed Discord:
“We are aware that players have gained access to Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official launch. The development team remains hard at work on updates to refine the experience for release, and any footage that has been shared online does not reflect the final version of the game. Leaks are unfortunate and can lessen the excitement for fans. We kindly request that you refrain from spoiling the experience for others. Thank you to our community for already taking measures to shield everyone from spoilers.”
“Stay in the shadows, avoid the spoilers, and keep an eye on our channel for more official surprises in the coming weeks!”
IGN and other publications previously reported that now-deleted social media posts featured images and videos from an individual who claimed to have obtained a copy of the game via an online marketplace. TheGamer noted that copies of Assassin’s Creed Shadows were appearing on a US auction site and selling for $100 each. Meanwhile, VGC reported that numerous streamers were engaging with the game on Twitch, and those streams have since been removed from the platform.
I have reached out to Ubisoft for further comments and will update this article if I receive a response.
These are all the upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles you need to know about.
