Two Of The Worst Mortal Kombat Games To Be Included In Legacy Kollection
No one can claim Digital Eclipse does its retro bundles by half measures. Their incoming release, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, seems set to follow suit, and a Gamescom spotting confirms the team is doubling down by slipping in two of the franchise’s most maligned entries.
A clip that first surfaced on Twitter—now X—then re-uploaded to the Mortalkombatleaks subreddit (hat tip to Wario64!) pans across the collection’s catalogue and spies two extra names right at the end.

The revealed pair? Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: Special Forces. Hardly fan favorites, history will attest, yet every bit of the series deserves archival love, so their inclusion is genuinely welcome.
After all, a faithful chronicle can’t simply paper over the rough patches—plus a handful of gamers probably do cherish these oddball outings.
Unfamiliar with these spin-off curiosities? Here’s a quick rundown. Mythologies: Sub-Zero reached the N64 in 1997 (right on the heels of the PlayStation version) and charts elder Sub-Zero Bi-Han’s hunt for Shinnok’s amulet. Functioning as Mortal Kombat 4’s prequel, it sidesteps tournament combat for side-scrolling stages laced with light platforming and the classic MK control feel.
Special Forces, meanwhile, stayed PlayStation-only in 2000 and grants brawler Jax his own spotlight. The project shifted into a top-down action-adventure groove. Production hurdles plagued the title, and midway through, Mortal Kombat co-creator John Tobias—along with several Midway staffers—stepped away.
An official confirmation from Digital Eclipse or Atari is doubtless around the corner. Moreover, judging by the menu leak, the roster may expand even further.
We’ve already learned the bundle will receive a proper cartridge version on Switch 2, which is fantastic. We’re still waiting for a definitive launch day—even if numerous retailers keep spoiling the surprise. At the moment, the boxed edition is slated to ship 12 December 2025 from Atari’s own storefront.
