Amazon has reduced the cost of the Arcade1Up Class of ’81 Countercade to $150. This was the initial pricing for the tabletop arcade unit, yet for the last few months the retailer has frequently listed it at $168. This combination Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga arcade machine was replenished in late August after being out of stock since the previous holiday period. At the conclusion of September, Amazon replenished Arcade1Up’s Pac-Man Countercade for $150; this version had been unavailable since early April.
Both of these compact cabinets come with three pre-installed Namco arcade classics, 7-inch vertically oriented screens, and full-size arcade controls. Similar to last year, we anticipate these economical units to be sought after this holiday season. The same can be noted for Arcade1Up’s new Classic Special Edition Arcade Cabinets themed around Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Mortal Kombat. This collection of standing arcade machines provides a more economical alternative to Arcade1Up’s Deluxe series.

Take a closer look at the Class of
81 and Pac-Man Countercades listed below. We have also provided a roundup of all available Arcade1Up machines, including the previously mentioned Classic Special Editions, Deluxe Cabinets, Head-to-Head Tables, and more.
Arcade1Up Class of ’81 Pac-Man & Galaga Countercade
$150 (previously $168)
The Class of ’81 Countercade features a 7-inch vertical LCD screen adorned with Ms. Pac-Man graphics on the left and Galaga graphics on the right. Despite its compact design, Arcade1Up Countercades provide full-sized controls. This unit includes a red ball-top arcade stick, two yellow buttons, a red button, and switches for power and volume. The marquee, side panels, and control deck showcase Class of ’81 art icons and logo designs.
As previously noted, the device contains three arcade classic games produced by Namco:
- Ms. Pac-Man
- Galaga
- Dig Dug
The overall measurements for the apparatus are 8.7 x 9.4 x 13.11 inches and it weighs only 6.3 pounds. While created for play on flat surfaces like desks or counters, it is light enough to balance on your lap while seated on a couch. You also won’t need proximity to an outlet, as the Class of ’81 Countercade can be powered using the included Micro-USB cable or four AA batteries (not included).
If you dislike Micro-USB as much as we do, consider acquiring this charger kit with four AA batteries for $13.
Arcade1Up Pac-Man Countercade
$150
In contrast to Class of ’81, the Pac-Man Countercade has retained its initial $150 MSRP since its last restocking approximately a month prior.
The Pac-Man Countercade was first introduced last November. It shares the same essential design as Class of ’81, featuring a classic Pac-Man theme and includes three Pac-Man titles:
- Pac-Man
- Super Pac-Man
- Pac-Mania
Arcade1Up’s Countercades are impressive little units, but if you’re seeking the optimal countertop arcade experience, we would strongly recommend the
Evercade Alpha Bartop Arcade. The Mega Man and Street Fighter variants are no longer in stock, yet Blaze Entertainment is launching an Evercade Alpha Taito Edition on November 12. While significantly pricier ($260), the Alpha is a superior device featuring 10 pre-installed games alongside compatibility with the extensive Evercade cartridge library. Check our Evercade Alpha critique from last year for more details regarding this impressive arcade device.
Arcade1Up Classic Special Edition Cabinets

With an asking price of $334, these 4-foot cabinets feature 15.6-inch screens and come with 13 pre-installed games. Adults intending to utilize these cabinets might want to acquire either an adjustable stool or the $59 riser that is offered separately. - Mortal Kombat II (13 Games) — $334
