Renowned Grand Theft Auto 5 actor Steven Ogg has categorically dispelled the rumor that he “dislikes” GTA and the role he portrays in the game, although he will not be partaking in GTA 6 upon its release.

In a discussion with fellow actor Michael Rosenbaum during the latest episode of his Inside of You podcast, Ogg reflects on whether he is concerned with how others perceive him, referencing the “comments made,” including the belief that “with GTA, everyone claims, ‘Oh, he despises being called Trevor.’

Clarifying this, Ogg suggests that he “might have mentioned to someone, ‘Well, my actual name isn’t Trevor.'” He adds: “When individuals address you by your character’s name, it feels somewhat strange,” pointing out that, considering Trevor is essentially a “video game character,” it is simply impossible for him to be a cartoon.

He elaborates: “So I’m sure at some juncture I might have reacted with, ‘What are you talking about?’ which then morphed into this narrative of, ‘He hates Trevor, he hates GTA, don’t call him Trevor or he’ll lose it.’” Ultimately, Ogg views Trevor as “an excellent character; he’s fantastic, and likewise, Shawn [Fonteno, who plays Franklin] and Ned [Luke, who plays Michael], we’re pals. We just did a Comic Con this past weekend. So those kinds of remarks don’t perturb me because I’m like, ‘You don’t really know me.’

Later in the podcast, Ogg flatly states that “no,” he will not be participating in GTA 6, yet he obviously harbors no animosity towards the series. Initially, during the discussion, Rosenbaum mentions that Ogg “didn’t play games” even though he was involved in “the largest game in history” with GTA 5. Ogg concurs that games have never particularly captivated him, despite having played some classic arcade games like Donkey Kong while growing up.

Even if Ogg is not particularly eager to play, GTA 6 is likely one of the most awaited games of the year for many. While Rockstar Games still hasn’t provided a specific release date (or second trailer, for that matter), it is poised to make a significant impact on this year’s game release schedule.

A former GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 animator claims GTA 6 is possibly playable “all the way through” right now.
