Although Deltarune’s third and fourth installments have only just launched, creator Toby Fox is already permitting friends to explore an early and incomplete iteration of chapter 5, and while it may be challenging to envision a more partial focus group, their feedback is promising.

Fox recently mentioned he doesn’t foresee Deltarune chapter 5 being available before the latter half of 2026, but he also optimistically conveyed that the “hindrances” that delayed chapters 3 and 4 have been resolved with chapter 5, signifying “nothing stands in our path now.”

My friend said this lovingly as a jest and perhaps it doesn’t carry profound significance. They enjoyed the game.

Fox mentioned he “displayed more new content” to another friend, who somewhat enigmatically commented, “‘What’s the contrary of ‘I miss Tenna?'”, an allusion to the primary adversary of chapter 3 that I don’t fully grasp beyond the fact itself. Thankfully, Fox was prompt in quelling any conjecture, posting in a subsequent tweet (chirp? peep? Let’s use post), “My friend said this lovingly as a jest and perhaps it doesn’t carry profound significance. They enjoyed the game.”

Let’s face it, is there any real probability that Deltarune chapter 5 won’t turn out to be yet another exceptional RPG extension? Like, it’s excellent to hear that Fox’s friends are enjoying themselves, but, obviously, they would be. It’s Deltarune. More Deltarune will invariably be a plus.

Meanwhile, RPG enthusiasts rejoice: 2025 has been a resounding success for the genre, although I’m bracing for a GOTY clash.

I received my significant opportunity here in 2019 with a freelance news position, and I was brought on as GamesRadar’s west coast Staff Writer in 2021. This entails overseeing the site’s western regional executive branch, AKA my home office, and covering whatever horror game I’m too scared to complete.
