The genre-blending side-scrolling brawler/RPG Towerborne is set to be released on Xbox Series X|S consoles on April 29, coinciding with its launch on Game Pass for both console and PC.

Towerborne comes from Stoic Studios, the developers behind the turn-based strategy series The Banner Saga, and was actually introduced in Steam Early Access for PC back in September 2024. The game blends side-scrolling combat similar to Castle Crashers with the loot and replayability found in an ARPG like Diablo, featuring various character classes to select and equipment for customization. Class Mastery will unveil skill attributes players can utilize to personalize their class, introducing new abilities and mechanics that will transform gameplay for each class. Skill attributes can also be swapped freely between missions, enabling players to experiment and find the best build for their playstyle.

The Class Mastery update will also introduce new foes, items, and Umbra spirit companions, along with the capability to remap controls, enhancements to the game’s community finder, and a new health flask item that will change the mechanics of death and revival.

Players on Xbox who are not members of Game Pass can still experience Towerborne through the Xbox Game Preview program, which may require the purchase of a Founder’s Pack that includes additional cosmetic items and monthly rewards. Game Pass members will also receive some in-game bonuses in the form of an exclusive set of Game Pass Perks for Towerborne (though the specific perks have yet to be revealed). The price for Towerborne’s Founder’s Pack on Xbox has not been disclosed yet, but a silver Founder’s Pack on Steam…
