Studio Game Swing, creator of the freshly launched indie action-roguelite Guntouchables, offered the title at no cost for its opening 24-hour period, during which a mind-blowing two million users snagged it—an influx that might or might not have nudged Deep Rock Galactic’s parent company, Ghost Ship, into signing on as publisher.
In a post on the Guntouchables Steam page, the studio stated that “over” two million copies were secured during that single launch-day stretch, “crushing every forecast we’d set.”
“We’re stunned and endlessly thankful for all the hype, encouragement, and sweet messages you’ve been sending our way,” Game Swing added.
Guntouchables drops one to four gamers onto a ruined planet overrun by swarms of mutants, mixing a light bullet-hell flavor reminiscent of Vampire Survivors into its cooperative gunplay.
Whether alone or in a squad, you blast away at foes to finish missions and grab UpCrates full of cash and enhancements meant to keep you from drowning in the ever-tougher tide. Between sorties, a lone operator or an entire fireteam can vote on random enemy mutations and player upgrades.
If that sounds like your cup of tea but you missed the giveaway window, never fear—the full release now costs just five bucks. And even though the review count hasn’t yet mirrored the gigantic claim numbers, the flood of feedback looks overwhelmingly upbeat.
