A series that honestly has not garnered nearly enough focus, even as it approaches its third season, is AMC’s masterfully gore-soaked interpretation of Interview with the Vampire. Straying from the well-trodden path of Anne Rice’s original narrative and modernizing it for contemporary viewers, the series chronicled the turbulent bond between Louis (Game of Thrones’ Jacob Anderson) and Lestat (Sam Reid). Now, a brand new extensive preview for The Vampire Lestat, the third televised installment that showcases the return of the iconic vampire, has surfaced online, as he seeks fame and a fresh method to satisfy his voracious craving for blood, along with other sensual pursuits.

It’s widely acknowledged that Anne Rice initially expressed worries regarding Tom Cruise embodying the role of Lestat in Neil Jordan’s 1994 adaptation, only to withdraw her concerns after witnessing his performance. Presently, while there is no denying that Cruise excels with his portrayal of the character, for those who haven’t viewed a single episode, one could argue that Reid offers an even more remarkable interpretation as Lestat de Lioncourt in AMC’s production. Unsure? Watch the trailer below, where it appears he is having a bloody good time.

Continuing from the happenings of Season 2, which concluded the interview, The Vampire Lestat redirects its attention to Louis’ creator, investigating his future in addition to his past, delving into how he became who he is. Speaking at New York Comic Con regarding the upcoming season (via The Hollywood Reporter), executive producer Mark Johnson disclosed that the show will draw from a collection of volumes from Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, such as Merrick, The Vampire Armand, and Queen of the Damned. “In terms of how we selected which segments of The Vampire Lestat to incorporate this season, since we’re navigating the subjectivity of Lestat, it depends on what he wishes to recall, what he’s okay with recalling, and then which memories will surface for him, whether he appreciates it or not.”

As of now, there is no confirmed release date for when The Vampire Lestat will grace television screens in 2026, but that provides ample opportunity for you to catch up on the bloody escapades of Louis and Lestat in the meantime.
