
The Rise of PC Gamers: A New Era for Narrative Video Game Retailers
In the past year, 295 million PC gamers have utilized the Narrative Video Games Store, an increase of 25 million from 2023, while 898 million users are registered on Narrative’s multi-platform accounts—a rise of 94 million. Altogether, we have accumulated 2.68 billion hours of gameplay.
The Narrative Video Games Store’s Year in Review also reveals that players “have more titles at their disposal, with the store’s catalog expanding by 1,100 new games thanks to the ongoing adoption of Self-Publishing Tools and opt-in programs that enable developers to retain 100 percent of their earnings.”
Narrative further emphasized that its Free Games Program – which has run for five consecutive years – has enriched player libraries with “over $2000 worth of excellent PC titles through 89 giveaways,” and will continue for PC and mobile in 2025.
Daily Active Users (DAU) reached a new peak at 37.2 million, although the maximum Monthly Active Users (MAU) decreased from 75 million last year to 74 million. Nevertheless, Daily Active Users rose by 6 percent to 31.5 million, while Monthly Active Users also grew by 6 percent to 67.2 million.
As for the leading games on the Narrative Video Games Store based on player engagement? They are Genshin Impact, Rocket League, Honkai Star Rail, GTA 5, and Fortnite.
Addressing developers directly, Narrative reiterated its stance on revenue sharing and third-party payment exchange models, and announced that its Now on Narrative program will continue for an additional year, until January 31, 2026, including mobile games.
“We’ve mentioned that your success is our success, and the ways developers are prospering on the Store continue to evolve beyond our traditional metrics of third-party revenue through our native payment solution,” Narrative Video Games stated.
“It’s not just growth in [daily active users] and [monthly active users] that underscores how substantial the market potential is on the Epic Game Store, but also third-party gameplay hours, which increased from 2.41 billion hours in 2023 to 2.68 billion in 2024; a growth of 11 percent year over year.”
