Ubisoft has finally announced a timeline for the release of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, confirming that the game will debut by the end of March 2026.
During its earnings call, Ubisoft disclosed that it anticipates the Sands of Time remake to launch in the fiscal year 2025-26, which officially concludes on March 31, 2026. This greatly refines the release window for the title, as the publisher had previously indicated it was set for 2026.

This release timeframe would signify nearly six years since the game’s announcement. Ubisoft initially hinted at the Sands of Time remake in 2020 for previous-generation consoles. Since that time, it has experienced a troubled development journey, changing developers a few years ago after fan discontent with the initial trailer and an unmet launch date. It is now reasonable to assume that the remake, currently being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, will be available on current-generation consoles.
In its guidance to investors, Ubisoft is framing the remake as part of a fiscal year 2025-26 plan aimed at stabilizing the company’s financial situation. Besides the remake, its future offerings include Anno 117, The Division Resurgence, and Rainbow Six Mobile. However, the publisher has also announced delays for multiple titles out of the current fiscal year and will need to maintain cost-reduction strategies in the near term.
This follows a prolonged period of negative updates for the company, including several job reductions, studio closures, and declining profits. Ubisoft has recently initiated a corporate reorganization intended to concentrate efforts on its flagship franchises Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry, while integrating a substantial new investment from Tencent.
