Predator: Killer of Killers serves as a glimpse into the legacy of the extraterrestrial hunters termed the Yautja on Earth. However, there’s a hidden gem in the latest trailer for the animated anthology feature that hints at potential connections to the lore of another well-known alien creature, the Xenomorphs from the Alien series.
In one of the concluding scenes from the trailer, depicted above, it strongly resembles a Yautja warrior adorned in a cloak fashioned from Xenomorph tails (h/t IGN), implying that this particular Predator has faced – and triumphed over – a number of these lethal, acid-bleeding beings.
Naturally, it might just be an artistic decision intended to unofficially acknowledge Alien enthusiasts. Nevertheless, there exists considerable evidence to propose that those are genuinely Xenomorph trophies.
To begin with, the Alien and Predator franchises are under the same parent company and have several official collaborations, including a multitude of comics, video games, and two feature films. Additionally, the Predator franchise has previously showcased Xenomorph skulls as trophies, dating back to 1990’s Predator 2, so there’s ample precedent.
Last but certainly not least, Predator: Killer of Killers director Dan Trachtenberg is also helming Predator: Badlands, the upcoming live-action theatrical installment in the franchise. This film features Elle Fanning as an android created by the infamous mega-corporation from the Alien series, Weyland-Yutani. So, he evidently embraces incorporating a touch of Alien into his Predator narrative.
Predator: Killer of Killers will be accessible on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK starting June 6. Predator: Badlands is currently scheduled for a worldwide theatrical launch on November 7.
