Gee Bee arrives tomorrow
The upcoming Arcade Archives title making its way to Switch 1 and Switch 2 lands on the consoles tomorrow, 2nd October 2025, and it’s the inaugural title Toru Iwatani — the originator of Pac-Man — crafted for Namco.
The 1978 debut Gee Bee is the subsequent game in Hamster’s vast assortment of ports. Significantly, Gee Bee was the first arcade game ever created internally at Namco. The price will be $7.99 on Switch 1, and $9.99 on Switch 2 (or your local equivalent).
On both platforms, the game will enable mouse controls — on Switch 1, this means connecting a USB mouse, while Mouse Mode on Switch 2 will function immediately.
This is fundamentally a block breaker game, albeit with a slight pinball aesthetic. You will utilize a rotary dial to steer paddles to propel balls upward on the screen.
Although Gee Bee achieved success, it didn’t meet Namco’s expectations. Nevertheless, its absence might have led to a significantly different arcade landscape and Namco’s own contributions, marking it as a crucial piece of history.
Arcade Archives Gee Bee and Arcade Archives 2 Gee Bee will be available on the eShop tomorrow. Are you planning to check these out? Share your thoughts in the comments.
