Nearly two years after the celebrated initial season of HBO’s live-action adaptation of The Last of Us concluded, its highly anticipated second season finally has a release date – with the first episode set to air in the US on Sunday, 13th April.

The second season of The Last of Us resumes approximately five years after the storyline of season one, and will at least partially cover Naughty Dog‘s sequel game. Showrunner Craig Mazin previously indicated that the team would require more than one season to fully adapt the narrative of The Last of Us Part 2.

The Last of Us’ second season – part two of an anticipated four-season journey – will premiere on HBO Max in the US starting 13th April. There is no update on international release dates just yet, but Sky Atlantic’s ongoing collaboration with HBO suggests it may continue to be the show’s home in the UK – likely airing simultaneously with the US for those who wish to avoid spoilers on social media.
